Florin Sandu (Romanian pronunciation: flo'rin san'du, born February 24, 1949) is a former judoka and a former chief of the Romanian Police. He is a Quaestor who served as inspector general of Romanian Police and then as Secretary of State, the First Deputy of the Minister in Ministry of Interior from Romania. Sandu is currently a professor at the Romanian-American University and a lawyer. ==Biography== Sandu was born on February 24, 1949 in Balint, Timiș County, Romania. His father Zamfir had been working in the Interior Ministry and his mother Berta was a nurse. His brother Ion Eugen Sandu was Brigadier General in the Ministry of Interior, Chief of the Romanian Police between the years 1993 - 1995 and the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Interior. In 1995 he died in a (tragic helicopter accident ) on September 1, 1995, just Gendarmerie Day at Mogoşeşti, Iasi county. Sandu taught in the primary at School No. 157 and then at (Vladimirescu Tudor theoretical High School in Bucharest ), after graduating high school he enrolled at (School of Police Officers Alexandru Ioan Cuza in Bucharesti ), from which he graduated in 1969. He then worked as a police officer in the economic department and was then appointed the position of Office Chief. He competed at the Rapid club of Bucharest in the period 1968-1972 at section judo 〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=section judo )〕 and ranked second in the national championship of judo at heavyweight and made part of the national teams. Subsequently he was appointed, Honorary President of the Romanian Association of Kendo. In 1972, he graduated from the Faculty of Law from Bucharest University and afterwards he was appointed to various functions in the Police Inspectorates from Caraș-Severin County, Braila and Bucharest. In 1997 he obtained a doctorate in law.
